When I first met her on a cold November evening in 1997, it was love at first sight. She was so tiny and seemed so vulnerable. I just had to took her with me. What I didn’t know was that she was terminally ill at that time. She had only a small chance to survive. Fortunately, we realized it early enough and were able to save her.

About 15 years later, when it was discovered that her kidneys were no longer working properly, the vet gave us little hope. But she took even that well. She didn’t want to leave us. Until last week.

A week ago, she picked her last spot, stayed there and stopped eating 3 days later. Her little body, which had become thin over the years, could not fight anymore. But her soul was as stubborn as ever. We comforted her as best as we could and said goodbye to her. We did everything possible to make it bearable for her. Last Sunday she closed her beautiful blue eyes forever.

Becca was 23 years and 4 months by our side. She accompanied us half our lifetime. For that we are infinitely grateful. It was a wonderful time. We miss her so much. She will always be with us on our journeys. 🖤
