A few days ago, we sailed to Gripholmen, a tiny island off the coast of Kristiansund that used to be a fishing village. These days, it’s pretty quiet, with just a few summer houses, loads of loud but friendly kittiwakes, and a lot of rugged charm. One of the best bits was the old stave church. It’s one of Norway’s smallest and northernmost stave churches. The first one we’ve seen on our trip.

We moored right by the old pier and enjoyed the kind of silence you only get in places like this.
